Duke
Chihuahua | 2012 - 2024
Duke wasn’t just my dog.
He was my best friend, my companion, and such a huge part of my life.
He loved people. He loved a pup cup. And more than anything, he loved being tucked up in bed, snuggled as close to his Mummy as he could possibly get.
He was there through everything.
Every tear I cried.
Every milestone I reached.
Every difficult day and every happy one.
Duke never needed to know what was wrong. He just knew when I needed him, and somehow, being beside me was always enough.
I miss the little things more than I ever knew I could. His presence. His warmth. The comfort of having him beside me. The feeling that wherever I was, Duke was never very far away.
He was my life.
And now I am learning how to carry on when such a huge part of my life is no longer here beside me.
But underneath all the pain, there is so much gratitude.
I am grateful that I got to love him.
Grateful that he chose my bed to snuggle in.
Grateful for every pup cup, every cuddle, every memory and every year that I got to call him mine.
I would give anything for more time with him.
For now, I am holding on. I am trying to be strong, even on the days when I don’t feel strong at all.
Because I believe that somewhere ahead of me is the day I will see my beautiful boy again.
And until then, I will carry Duke with me through every tear and every milestone, just as he carried me through so many of mine.
I love you, Duke.
Thank you for being my best friend.
Until we are together again. 🤎
